Great Mental Health Day – 31st January 2025
On Friday, 31 January 2025, Londoners across the capital will be coming together to once again mark Great Mental Health Day, a regional awareness day with the aim of getting Londoners talking about their mental health and, importantly, raise awareness about the support and services that are available all year round and locally to them.
When times are tough, it’s important that we look after our own and each other’s wellbeing. We all need community. We all need connection. And in a world where those who face the greatest disadvantages in life also face the greatest risks to their mental health, we need these safe spaces more than ever.
Now in its fourth year, Great Mental Health Day is also an opportunity to celebrate and learn from organisations and individuals across the region by sharing stories, experiences, and exploring the ways in which people are supporting individual and community wellbeing.
This year, Thrive LDN and partners want to encourage residents in every London borough to get involved in Great Mental Health Day. We know how hard organisations like yours are working to support Londoners and we want to use the day to champion the work being done by so many people across our region who are devoting energy and compassion to others.
How you can get involved with Great Mental Health Day
We would be grateful for your support in making the day a success by helping to signpost Londoners to resources, services and activities that can help to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
Help us spread the word. Explore our Supporter’s Pack and communications toolkit for social media copy, logos and ideas on how to get involved in the run up to Great Mental Health Day 2025.
Use the day to promote the service, support or activities you provide. In previous years, the use of #GreatMentalHealth across social media by local services and organisations has allowed Londoners to find out more about the support available to them. For Great Mental Health Day 2025, you could spotlight the work you are doing that makes a difference. For example, you could do this by:
- Sharing details about your organisation or resources through your social media channels using #GreatMentalHealth.
- Tell us about your organisation and the services you provide so we can feature you on the Great Mental Health Day interactive map.
- Hosting an event, open day or taster session on Great Mental Health Day to encourage local residents and Londoners to find out more about your organisation or services. Or you could choose to promote an activity that you already run regularly (such as a coffee morning or exercise class) as part of Great Mental Health Day. Let us know and we can add it on the Great Mental Health Day interactive map.
- Signpost Londoners to free online training offers and resources. We want to encourage Londoners to access a range of free training and support offers available to them. You can access these via the Thrive LDN website and we’ve collated key resources into one place. Additionally, if you haven’t already done so, you could take the Zero Suicide Alliance’s free, online suicide prevention training to learn how to approach conversations around mental health and suicide and then encourage others to take the training too.
At a time when many Londoners are facing challenging circumstances or experiencing financial and personal pressures, we believe it’s important to provide a platform for the brilliant services, support and resources that are available for all Londoners to access.
We hope you’ll be able to join us in marking Great Mental Health Day 2025 and celebrating those that make a difference through their small actions for others.
If you’d like any more information on the day or to chat through any of the above, please just get in touch with the team: info@thriveldn.co.uk. Alternatively, you can explore the Great Mental Health Day website to find out more.
