NHS Lived Experience Practice National Conference

Gemma and some of the other Peers from the Peer Support In-Reach service attended the Lived Experience and Peer workforce Conference for Peer Support workers on the 20th July 2023 at 229 Great Portland Street, hosted by Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.

The theme for this year’s conference was Ancient Approaches in Modern Healthcare and invited all NHS peer workers to explore the history and roots of NHS-based peer and lived experience practice.

The day was spent honouring their past and celebrating the future; the programme of speakers supporting them as a growing national movement of NHS peer workers to explore how activism, resistance, and lost narratives of survivor history provide the bedrock of contemporary lived experience practice in the NHS.
